At Hamer, we have used the Read, Write Inc phonic scheme for many years to great success. Children in Reception and Key Stage 1 have specific phonic sessions every day, as well as phonics being incorporated throughout the day in other sessions. 

Where required, children in Key Stage 2 continue to receive phonics support to ensure that they are able to access age appropriate texts as soon as possible.

Our Nursery children explore the environment to start discriminating sounds as well as working on rhyme and alliteration. Towards the Summer term, the children are introduced to the first sounds they will then meet again in Reception.
