Governor Pen Portraits

Mr Simon Moore

Position on Governing Body: Headteacher

What my role is on the Governing Body:

I work in strategic partnership with the Chair of Governors, Ms Shasta Bi, to organise agendas, sub-committee meetings and provide the strategic and operational vision required to lead Hamer and the school community.  As well as being part of the Governing Body, it is also my role to report frequently to Governors who hold me to account for all operational and strategic decisions made at Hamer, because ultimately, the Governing Body has responsibility to ensure that decisions are made in the best interests of Hamer school and our children and families.  I also report on standards of learning and teaching and present all school improvement plans to ensure that the school is self-evaluative and forward thinking in our continual analysis of strengths and areas to improve.

My reasons for joining the Governing Body:

As Headteacher, and in public service, I am accountable to the school community for all decisions made affecting your school.  The Governors are here to represent all stakeholders and to ensure that we always strive to do the best we can for our children and families. I am employed by the Governing Body to carry out my duties as Headteacher in strategic partnership with them and so it is vital that I meet with the Governors regularly as we work together to this end.

Having spent almost 10 years working in primary education, during which time I have held several positions of increasing responsibility, culminating in my current position of Assistant Head Teacher at Clarksfield Primary School, I am highly motivated and excited about being part of the governing body at Hamer Community Primary School.

I started my teaching career, in 2011, at Hamer Community Primary School. I progressed to become a middle leader and was fortunate enough to be part of the Wider Leadership Team, with responsibility for ICT, as well as being a Year 6 teacher.  I want the children at Hamer Community Primary School to achieve the best they possibly can and leave the school well prepared for the next stage of their education, with lasting, happy memories of their time at Hamer.

My foremost objective, as a Governor, is to work with the governing body, bringing my existing expertise and knowledge, to contribute to providing an excellent learning experience for all our pupils to enable them achieve their maximum potential.  I am passionate and committed about continuously improving standards within the school. I also see the role of the governors as being good ambassadors to the school and to have helped contribute to the triumphs and achievements within the school.

I am very much looking forward to working with the Head Teacher and Staff in order to make Hamer Community Primary School an “Outstanding School” and one that staff, children and parents can be proud!
