Royal wedding celebrations – Friday 18th May 2018
Anticipation was running high across school as the children saw both the dining hall and main hall being transformed throughout the morning; bunting, balloons and photos of the happy couple festooned the walls, whilst Union Jacks decorated the tables. At 11:45am, the first of 400 children (from both Hamer and Springside) arrived dressed in their finery and ready to enjoy a fabulous picnic lunch to celebrate the wedding of Harry and Meghan. They feasted on a selection of sandwiches, crisps and cakes provided by our amazing canteen staff, before returning to classrooms in the afternoon to take part in a series of wedding themed activities. Children even wrote messages of good luck in our very own wedding guest book and all received a commemorative bookmark to remember the day! It was fantastic day all round and a fitting celebration of British values across school. Huge thanks to all staff who gave a helping hand on the day and to our amazing children for making the celebrations such a success.
Message from the Queen - July 2016
Our fantastic Year 3 and 4 children sent lovely birthday messages to the Queen earlier this year and have received this letter in return.
British Values Community Cohesion Ambassadors - June 2016
Hamer School's British Values Community Cohesion Ambassadors delivered their speeches at the Town Hall with their Marland Hill and Rochdale Sixth Form colleagues. The turn out from high profile people within Rochdale Local Authority was outstanding and those people in key positions who are responsible for the ongoing development of our town listened to their ideas with enthusiasm and really took on board our Pupil Voice.
We are very proud of all the young people who took part in this year's project because they made their voices heard. We are also grateful for the listening ears of those in decision making capacities: Rochdale really does value the input of its younger generation and their future leaders.
Well done Ambassadors!
